I was lucky in that I had 3 older sisters whose books I could read, as well as my own, and my mother had kept some of hers which I read too. There was a shelf in my classroom at school - not large but I read pretty well everything on it - I remember the three Pollyanna books from that shelf. I lived in the country and we had a mobile library but I don't remember many children's books in it but I know I used to love its arrival during the holidays.Lindsayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04631254646368974136noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-879471721147949241.post-48406607711093693332014-06-30T13:52:44.672+01:002014-06-30T13:52:44.672+01:00Lovely post, Miriam. I thought of Edmund Burke's famous line, "To read without reflecting is like eating without digesting." To be fair, we don't know whether these children are reflecting or not but still, I worry about intellectual dyspepsia. I did a blog on it about three years ago: http://tinyurl.com/knqzyus

Let me know if this makes sense, either here or as a comment on my blog. Thanks for your post. I really enjoy these.
